Colour blocking Tips!

So I know that this trend has been around for awhile now however I’m sure some of you are a little lost when it comes to colour! Here are my tips that I’ve learnt on colour blocking!

What is colour blocking? To colour block just means simply pairing contrasting colours against each other in one outfit!

“The rule of 2/3’s:” If you’re looking at a colour wheel and you take 3 colours (two side by side and one across,) connect them to create a triangle. This goes for any colour in the colour wheel but an example could be yellow, orange, and violet! I recommend keeping some neutrals in this outfit.

Try not to wear more than 3 bright colours at once.

If you are wearing a bright top and a bright bottom then keep accessories neutral (leopard print counts as a neutral!)

Incorporate neutrals. Include a neutral purse of shoe to bring everything together.

  • Patterns: They can look great however be cautious because it could turn out messy looking.

Colour combinations: Complementary colours are two colours on opposite sides of the colour wheel that when put together in an outfit make each other appear brighter. They always work together when colour blocking. The complementary colour of a primary colour is the colour you get when you mix the other two primary colours together. Here’s an example if you’re completely lost: red and blue (primary colours) create purple (complementary colour) when mixed together so yellows complementary colour is purple.

Don’t be blind to tones: Try not to mix warm and cool tones together but remember, there are always exceptions.

Just starting out?

You can’t go wrong with colours in the same family or just adding pops of colour with your accessories.

Good luck! Love you girls 🙂

Spring Cleaning!

spring cleaning

I’m writing this while there is a pile of clothes on the ground behind me. Clutter drives me insane and so whenever I get lazy about keeping things clean I get in a very dreadful mood. Here are some tips for cleaning and organizing your things!

First off, some benefits of spring cleaning would be that it gives you a sense of accomplishment, it makes you feel good, relieves stress,   and it also lets you get creative! I always try to change things up a little bit when I’m cleaning so that it seems even more fresh and new! For example, I want to add something to a blank wall in my room so I’m going to do something with that wall today!

Okay so make sure that you really clean everything. I’m looking around at my walls and there are marks on them, you can imagine how I am just dying to wipe down my walls. Also fold all of your clothes and organize your drawers. This is a great time to go through your clothes and make piles. Get about 3 boxes and label them; donate, trash, store. If you’re not sure about something then save it for last and try to come up with about 3 outfits for it, if you can’t then throw it in the trash! I would definitely recommend opening your windows while you spring clean because it creates an airy atmosphere which I personally love. Change your bed sheets, vacuum your carpets, buy some new curtains, treat yourself to some fresh flowers, sew up the holes in your clothing that you’ve been putting off, wash as many clothes as you can and make sure that they smell fresh and clean when you’re done!

I hope that I helped you out a little bit and now I need to go and thoroughly clean my house! ❤
